To best support our students and staff as we transition, Monday will follow a minimum day schedule for grades Pre-K through 8, with middle and high school students following a Collaboration Day schedule (see table below). This shift allows staff time to provide social-emotional support to students while also giving our employees time to collaborate, support one another, and plan for the week ahead.

Please note, for this week only, Wednesday will be a full instructional day rather than a Minimum or Collaboration Day.
An abundance of planning and collaboration with our employee group representatives has taken place to welcome our students and staff back to school.
-
Our custodians and maintenance staff have been and will continue to work diligently to clean and prepare campuses inside and out. The district is actively planning the replacement of all air conditioning filters and classroom air purifiers to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.
-
Masks will be available to all students and staff who wish to wear one.
-
To support students' and staff well-being, “Warm Welcomers” and counselors will be on campuses to help students and staff navigate the transition back to school and provide emotional support as needed. Additionally, there will be no homework assigned during the week of January 13.
-
Our teachers and staff will have time after dismissal on Monday, January 13 to collaborate, seek support, and plan their approach to assisting both students and one another.
We will continue to monitor the conditions over the weekend. Please continue to check your ParentSquare notifications, our District website, and our social media platforms for updates. As we reopen, we will be following all safety protocols and guidelines related to air quality.
I am incredibly proud of the resilience and unity shown by our SGUSD staff and community as they have come together to support one another during this challenging time. Our hearts go out to those affected by this tragedy, especially those who have experienced the loss of their homes. We know the windstorm and fires have impacted everyone in different ways. We will get through this together as a community, as we have in past times of crisis. Together, we are strong!
